New Micron President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra Visits Taiwan [64144]

Sanjay Mehrotra, the newly appointed president and CEO of Micron Technology, Inc. commenced an overseas tour of Micron's manufacturing sites after the first month in his new role, with Taiwan being the first stop. At a meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen in Taipei, Mehrotra emphasized the strategic value of Taiwan within Micron's global footprint, as well as the company's commitment to long-term investment in the country.

"Memory is fast becoming the strategic differentiator for powering next-generation computing models, and our operations in Taiwan are critical to supporting the industry in this evolution. Through the sustained partnership we have established with Taiwan, we are continuing to invest in deploying advanced technology in our front-end fabrication facilities, as well as creating a new back end fab in Taichung this year. With the government's continued support, Micron is set to further enhance our strong presence on the island through the establishment of our integrated Center of Excellence for DRAM in Taiwan," Mehrotra stated.

Micron Technology, Inc. announced that the board of directors has appointed Sanjay Mehrotra as president and chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors, effective May 8, 2017. Mehrotra succeeds Mark Durcan and joins Micron at a time of increasing opportunity for memory and storage technologies and solutions as the key enablers for the next-generation of computing architectures.

Micron Technology and Microsoft announced a collaboration that aims to address the major challenge of providing trusted computing models for IoT deployments in industrial, automotive and consumer environments. As digitization and adoption of Internet Protocol (IP) for sensors and devices becomes increasingly pervasive, cyber-security is one of the biggest challenges and barriers to the growth of IoT deployments and associated business models. The new solution utilizes a hardware 'root of trust' integrated into Micron's flash memory in the IoT device along with the Microsoft Azure IoT cloud to establish a strong trusted link between that IoT device and the cloud.

Micron Technology, Inc., Reports Results for the Second Quarter of Fiscal 2017 [61808]

Micron Technology, Inc., (NASDAQ:MU) announced results of operations for its second quarter of fiscal 2017, which ended March 2, 2017. Revenues for the second quarter of fiscal 2017 were $4.65 billion and were 17 percent higher compared to the first quarter of fiscal 2017 and 58 percent higher compared to the second quarter of fiscal 2016.

"Strong demand and limited industry supply for NAND and DRAM solutions, combined with significant progress on our cost reduction plan, produced excellent results for our second quarter," said Micron CEO Mark Durcan. "I'm proud of the team's execution on critical technology and operational initiatives, which will allow us to continue to capitalize on market trends."
